At an earlier date, the files in this series were given reference numbers by an historian of science, who sorted the papers. These numbers appear at the front of the files, but they are incomplete, and several files share the same reference. Therefore these have not been retained in the current catalogue, but the earlier catalogue has been preserved, and may be consulted on request.
