Biographical / Historical
Malcolm McBain was born 19 January 1928, the son of David Walker McBain and Lilian J. McBain; he was educated at Sutton County School and London School of Economics (evening student). In 1951 he married Audrey Yvonne Evison.
Following Ministry of Civil Aviation appointments in Tripoli, Libya, 1949-51, and New Delhi [India], 1953-54, McBain joined the Diplomatic Service. His diplomatic career included: New Delhi, 1958-61; Kenya, 1963-67; Thailand, 1968-75; Brunei, 1978-81; Texas [United States], 1981-84; Ambassador to Madagascar, 1984-87.
He was awarded the LVO in 1972. Malcolm McBain died on 20 March 2022.
