Scope and Contents
Letters sent while John Julius was on his way from Belgrade to take up his new post as Second Secretary at the British Embassy in Beirut [Lebanon] and from Beirut itself, on subjects including: disapproval of the new British Ambassador to Yugoslavia [later Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia], Sir John Nicholls and his wife; the visit to Belgrade by Sir Laurence Olivier and the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre company, with their production of Titus Andronicus. Also includes a postcard from Vivien Leigh.
