Scope and Contents
Papers and correspondence on the launching of the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes by Clementine at Barrow-in-Furness [Cumbria], with correspondents including: Sir Ronald Weeks, Chairman of Vickers-Armstrongs Limited; Sir John Lang, Secretary to the Admiralty (2); James Thomas, First Lord of the Admiralty [later 1st Lord Cilcennin] (4); Charles Dunphie, Vickers-Armstrongs Limited (3); Grace Hamblin, Private Secretary to Clementine. Also includes notes on Hermes and her sister ship, HMS Indomitable, which Clementine had also launched.
