Letters to Clementine from: Queen Elizabeth, thanking Clementine for a book on Walter Sickert and commenting on the strength and vigour of Churchill's broadcast from the United States, December 1941; [William] Mackenzie King [Prime Minister of Canada] on his visit to Chequers [Buckinghamshire], August 1941 and being with Churchill when he made his broadcast on the Atlantic Charter; [William] Averell Harriman [Special Representative of President Franklin Roosevelt] on a visit to Chequers, c March 1941, his view that the United States should take a more active part in the war and his devotion to his mission; Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, thanking Clementine and Churchill for a volume of [?] "A History of the English-Speaking Peoples"; Lady Violet Bonham Carter [earlier Violet Asquith, later Baroness Asquith of Yarnbury] on her work as an Air-Raid Warden in London and the need for empty houses to be left unlocked with access to water (2).
