Subjects include: Churchill's hopes for a "frank and clear-eyed friendship" with Clementine; Churchill's by-election in North West Manchester, including assistance from Lady Dorothy Howard [Clementine's cousin, later Lady Dorothy Eden and Lady Henley]; Churchill's joy in their engagement; the wedding of Jack [John S Churchill] and Lady Gwendeline Bertie ['Goonie']; Clementine's visit to Blenheim Palace [Oxfordshire]; Churchill's affection for his cousin Sunny [9th Duke of Marlborough] and their different attitudes to women; a fire at the house where Churchill had been staying [Burley-on-the-Hill, Rutland]; the consequences of Churchill's loss of his North West Manchester seat.
Also includes a telegram from King Edward VII congratulating Churchill on his engagement.
