Subjects include: the death of Ralph Wigram; Clementine's skiing holiday in Zürs, Austria, with Mary Churchill [later Mary Soames] and then at Davos and St Moritz [Switzerland]; her support for Churchill's stand on the abdication of the Duke of Windsor [earlier King Edward VIII]; a story in the press about Clementine's nephew Esmond Romilly returning home after fighting with the International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War; her concern about Sarah Oliver [earlier Sarah Churchill, later Sarah Beauchamp and Sarah, Lady Audley]; financial support for Sarah and her husband Vic Oliver and money to be saved for Mary; a Churchill painting of silver sugar urns; Clementine's fear that [Alfred] Duff Cooper [later 1st Lord Norwich] was not up to the job [of Secretary of State for War]; Churchill's theory about having a telepathic link with Friendly the sheep.
