Scope and Contents
Subjects include: Clementine's stays at the Villa Rêve d’Or, Cannes [France], January 1923, and Cromer, Norfolk, August 1923; Clementine's belief that all it took to be a statesman or a strategist was cool common sense and "to be born into trousers instead of petticoats!"; the question of war reparations; an infection in Clementine's throat; her disappointment with the slow progress of work on their house at Chartwell [Kent]; Clementine's pessimism about the League of Nations and its attitude to Benito Mussolini; an earthquake in Japan.
