Scope and Contents
Comprising Kodachrome colour slides and digitised images of Egon Bretscher and his family at Los Alamos, New Mexico,1945-6, including photographs of the buildings on the site, natural scenery, scientists and military personnel, families, people of the Tribal nations, and the Trinity nuclear test site. With later photographs of return visits to Los Alamos, 1951 and 1957.
People pictured include Egon Bretscher and his family, Robert Oppenheimer, Leslie Groves, Edward Teller, Enrico Fermi, Herbert L. Anderson, Felix Bloch, and Hans H. Staub.
With photographs of the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell, 1946-66, and Cambridge, 1946 and late 1950s.
Also with photographs of a conference in Copenhagen including Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg, John Cockcroft and Hans Bethe, 1951, and a conference in Chicago including John Cockcroft and Otto Frisch, 1951.
