"10 gallons . . . he said: Bathing pool in the making", 1934-04

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0014/BRDW V 3/10/10 recto

Scope and Contents

Skewed photograph of WSC at Chartwell [Kent] bending over a large can which has been positioned in the middle of a small stream to catch water from an open pipe above, in order to measure the quantity flowing into the bathing pool beyond. He is turning to look towards the camera, with one hand on the can, and a cigar in his mouth, and is wearing a heavy tweed overcoat and light coloured homburg hat. In the background the trees on the other side of the pool can be seen. The photograph has been taken at an angle of about 35 degrees, to make it appear that WSC is upright, rather than bending over.
