Scope and Contents
Photograph of the family gathered round the grave of Lady Randolph Churchill [earlier Jennie Jerome] in front of St Martin's Church in Bladon [Oxfordshire]. From left to right are: WSC, partially obscured by [? CSC] in a long black coat and dress and black veiled hat; then a small boy, John G Churchill, throwing some flowers into the grave; then an unidentified man with a moustache, carrying his hat and cane and looking at the camera; then Oswald Frewen with his hat on his arm, standing next to his mother Clara Frewen [earlier Clara Jerome] in a black veiled hat; then [?] Leonie, Lady Leslie [earlier Leonie Jerome] in a broad-brimmed hat, with Sir John Leslie beside her, holding his hat and cane. More unidentified figures are standing to the right; banks of white flowers are piled up against the church in the background, while more flowers are in the foreground, and in the right foreground is a tall Celtic cross [marking the grave of Lord Randolph Churchill]. The image was originally mislabelled as showing Lord Randolph Churchill’s funeral.
