"Epping election: the market place, Epping", 1935-11
Scope and Contents
Photograph, taken from the side, of WSC and CSC in the cattle market at Epping [Essex] amid a crowd of people during the General Election campaign. WSC and CSC are both in a wagon with two other men, WSC in profile, standing by a microphone, addressing the crowd, with CSC, her back to the camera, sitting on the edge of the wagon, looking at the people below. WSC is wearing a dark overcoat and tall bowler hat, CSC is in a long tweed coat with a large draping collar and Tam o' shanter type cap. Several cows are tied to the railings next to the wagon, and there is a row of shops in the background, some with wooden balconies.
