Letters from Queen Elizabeth II on subjects including: Churchill's correspondence with Harry S Truman, President of the United States, on a joint message to Mohammed Mussadiq [Prime Minister of Iran, also known as Mohammed Mossadeq and Mosaddegh] over the oil dispute with Iran; the Queen's respect for "Bobbety" [5th Lord Salisbury, earlier Lord Cranborne]; her Christmas broadcast (1952); horseracing; the Bermuda Conference (1953); her tour of the Commonwealth (1953-54), particularly her impressions of New Zealand and Australia; the Duke of Edinburgh's title; her affection for Churchill (on his resignation as Prime Minister) and gratitude for his help; Britain's ties with the United States; Churchill's gift to her of his painting of [the Palladian bridge], Wilton House [Wiltshire].
