Scope and Contents
Correspondents include: Sir Owen Morshead, Librarian, Windsor Castle, on Queen Mary's set of Churchill's History of the Second World War; Princess Margaret on photographs which she had taken of Churchill at Balmoral [Scotland]; Henry, Duke of Gloucester on subjects including the death of Queen Mary (2); Sir Godfrey Thomas, Private Secretary to the Duke of Gloucester; Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, on subjects including Churchill's History of the Second World War and History of the English-Speaking Peoples and Churchill's visits to Balmoral (4); Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, on the death of 1st Lord Athlone and also advising Churchill to spend the winter in Jamaica rather than the south of France (2).
Also includes a copy of a letter from Churchill to [Queen Mary] on the wish of the Duke of Windsor [earlier King Edward VIII] that she should receive the Duchess of Windsor [earlier Wallis Simpson].
