Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars, 1898 - 1906
Scope and Contents
Photograph album kept by Major John S Churchill, relating to his service in the Oxfordshire Hussars, and also the South African Light Horse during the Boer War. Includes photographs of the armoured train ambushed by Boers in November 1899, where Winston Churchill was captured, and the Hospital Ship Maine, managed by Lady Randolph Churchill [earlier Jennie Jerome]. Also includes assorted memorabilia, telegrams etc, and some loose items.
