Correspondents include: 1st Lord Beaverbrook [earlier Max Aitken] on subjects including civil aviation after the war, an oil supply agreement with the United States and maintaining the Sterling Area (4); Sir Patrick Hannon; Sir Hubert Henderson, Economic Adviser to the Treasury, on papers by Amery on sterling balances (enclosed) and Imperial Preference (3); Sir [Richard] Stafford Cripps, Chancellor of the Exchequer, on subjects including Amery's idea for bringing Newfoundland [later part of Canada] into the Sterling Area (2).
Also includes: a lecture by Robert Boothby on the economic crisis, 1949; lecture by Sir [Harold] Leslie Boyce, on the office of Lord Mayor of London; note by Sir William McLean on the Empire Economic Union; Foreign Office memorandum on closer economic association in Europe, the Commonwealth and Empire, 1947; memorandum on Britain's sterling balances; papers from the United Europe Movement, 1947; rough notes by David Nicholson.
