Includes: printed papers on defence estimates; notes for the defence debate and service estimates debate; report of the Plowden committee of inquiry into the aircraft industry, with rough notes by JA and first reactions from the Society of British Aerospace Companies Limited; letter from Sir Alexander Douglas-Home [earlier 14th Lord Home, later Lord Home of the Hirsel] on negotiations with Ian Smith [Prime Minister of Rhodesia] on education; letter from [Leonard] Robert Carr, asking for JA's advice on the Air Corporations Bill; transcripts from the Conservative Party Conference, of speeches by Douglas-Home on foreign affairs, and by [John] Enoch Powell on defence; defence policy group minutes, with papers on the reorganisation of the Territorial Army and general defence policy.
