Scope and Contents
Correspondence, particularly relating to JA's visit to Abu Dhabi, Muscat [Masqat] and Oman, Qatar, Jordan and Beirut [Lebanon] in 1969, with correspondents including: the Sultan of Muscat; Sir Arnold Hall, Chairman of Hawker Siddeley Group Limited (2); the Sultan of Abu Dhabi; [Robert] Michael Stewart, Foreign Secretary; Edward Heath [Leader of the Conservative Party].
Also includes: notes of a talk with the Shah of Persia [now Iran] on the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, and Britain's continuning presence in the Gulf; letters of thanks; notes on JA's meetings with the Sultan of Abu Dhabi, King Hussein of Jordan and Camille Chamoun, former President of Lebanon, on the future of the Gulf, and the situation in Jordan and the Lebanon.
