Correspondence, mainly with Paul Emrys Evans, Christopher Hely-Hutchinson and Sir [Thomas] Ellis Robins, and also with others including Iain Macleod [Minister of Labour and National Service] in response to a query by JA about granting indefinite deferment of National Service to science and engineering graduates working in British owned mines overseas. Also includes the programme for JA's visit to Rhodesia [later Zambia and Zimbabwe] and South Africa in Jan 1955, and letters from friends including Ian Horobin, Lord Hinchingbrooke [later 10th Lord Sandwich and Victor Montagu], 1st Lord Hankey, Ralph Assheton [later 1st Lord Clitheroe] thanking JA for notes on his visit to Egypt, 1955 [the notes are not present].
