Diary. Subjects covered include: Cadogan's relationship with Anthony Eden; meetings of the London Regional Council of the United Nations Association, with discussions on the rearmament of Germany and NATO, and comments on attendees, including Barbara Castle; Chatham House meetings on Anglo-American relations; Suez Canal Company business; English Speaking Union meetings; National Provincial Bank business; Cadogan receiving the Order of Merit; and trips to Portugal and Switzerland. Also includes comments on leisure pursuits and household management; shopping and rationing; Cadogan's trip to the Festival of Britain; visits to art galleries, concerts, and theatre in London; notes on reading, including Cadogan's reaction to a biography of Churchill; and various social engagements, especially involving Canasta.
