Working papers on consumption and the retail and distributive trades in Britain, Europe, and the USA, covering subjects such as ownership of durable and non-durable consumer goods; fashion and taste; class, incomes, working hours, and living standards; hire purchase schemes and consumer credit; department stores; multiples and chain stores; mail-order catalogues; self-service grocery shops; co-operative shops and societies; and consumer protection. Consists largely of press cuttings, articles, and survey data, with Mark Abrams's notes.
