With an envelope labelled "note by Sir Winston 6 August 1956" [in Anthony Montague Browne's hand].

Subjects of the note include WSC's recommendations on who would have control of a military operation, the need for censorship before a military operation, aircraft to be used, the dangers of taking over the Suez Canal, a "volte-face" to "certainly free our hands about Israel" and wanting Israel to fight the Egyptians but not "be drawn off against Jordan".
