Subjects include the nationalisation of the Suez Canal by [Gamal Abdel] Nasser [President of Egypt]; British connections with the Middle East; conflict between Israel and Egypt; lack of cooperation from the United States [unwillingness to intervene in Egypt]; defence of the Anglo-French military invasion of the Suez Canal zone without seeking approval from the United Nations Security Council; the Soviet Union sending arms to Egypt, and accusing Britain of colonialism whilst having many satellite states; and the Tripartite Declaration between the United Kingdom, France and the United States safeguarding Arab states against attack by Israel.
