Scope and Contents
Letters written from Cairo, where FR was serving as Private Secretary to Sir Miles Lampson, High Commissioner for Egypt [later 1st Lord Killearn], mainly on his day to day life and work. Other subjects include: reaction in Egypt to the death of King George V; opposition from FR's parents to his relationship with Celeste [Cella] Shoucair [later Celeste Roberts]; negotiations for the Anglo-Egyptian treaty; worries about the actions of Germany; the results of the death of King Fuad I of Egypt; the Abdication Crisis.
