Papers and correspondence, mainly with the Friends of Tyneham Society [? earlier the 1943 Committee], on the campaign for the vacating of Tyneham (Dorset Army Coastal Ranges), near Lulworth, by the armed forces. Other correspondents include: Lord Winterbottom [Government spokesman on defence]; Robert Brown and Lord Brayley, Parliamentary Under-Secretaries of State for Defence for the Army; Frederick Bishop, Director-General of the National Trust (2); 6th Lord Carrington, Secretary of State for Defence; 2nd Lord Caldecote [earlier Robert Inskip]. Includes copies of Hansard with Questions and debates on the issue and rough notes for a speech by AFB.
Also includes material on the proposal that the returned area should be a National Park in Purbeck.
