Corfu Channel, 1947-05 - 1948-02
Scope and Contents
Papers and correspondence on the case brought by the British Government against Albania over damage suffered by British warships which had struck mines in the Corfu Channel in 1946. Correspondence is mainly between HL, the Foreign Office Legal Department, particularly Sir [William] Eric Beckett, Legal Adviser to the Foreign Office, and the International Court of Justice. Includes Observations and Submissions from the British Government, HL’s and Beckett’s suggestions on the Draft Pleadings in the case, and a memorandum by HL commenting upon the British Government’s draft memorial on the jurisdiction of the Court.
