Scope and Contents
Letter from Sir Bernard Freyberg [Governor-General of New Zealand] (Government House, Auckland, New Zealand) to WSC, explaining that he was sending him a food parcel containing ham, tongue and bacon via RMS Rimutaka. Freyberg explains that the smoked ox tongue was an experiment and would need soaking for 24 hours. He adds that as the parcel was being sent in a refrigerator ship he was anxious to know if the food reached WSC in good condition and asks if WSC's secretary could let him know. In a postscript, he also adds that he was sending WSC a 10 and half pound New Zealand loaf cheese, advising him to put a little port in it. Signed typescript
