Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 25 "Decision for 'Torch'" ['Torch' was the codename of the Allied invasion of North West Africa] annotated with suggested amendments and corrections by various people including Denis Kelly, William Deakin, WSC, Charles Wood, 1st Lord Ismay, Sir Edward Marsh, Sir Norman Brook [later 1st Lord Normanbrook, Secretary to the Cabinet] and Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall.Also includes some source material including: WSC's notes for a meeting held on 20 July 1942 to discuss operation 'Sledgehammer' [codename for a proposed British-American landing on the coast of France in 1942] and operation 'Gymnast' [codename for the plans for the British occupation of North West Africa], and instructions for the conference held in London in 1942.
