Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 11 "The shipping stranglehold" annotated with suggested amendments and corrections by various people including Denis Kelly, William Deakin, WSC, Charles Wood, Sir Edward Marsh, 1st Lord Ismay, [George] Gordon Allen, Sir Norman Brook [later 1st Lord Normanbrook, Secretary to the Cabinet], Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall and Emery Reves [earlier Imre Revesz].Also includes source material: sections of Chapter 7 "The U Boat Paradise"; a memorandum by Sir Arthur Salter on the American merchant shipping achievement between 1941 and 1943; correspondence between WSC and those who assisted him with the book including 3 notes from Allen on subjects including the structure of the book.Most of the material in the file dates to 1950.
