Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 2 "The setback in the desert" with annotations and suggestions by WSC, Denis Kelly, William Deakin, Charles Wood, [1st Lord] Ismay, Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall and Sir Edward Marsh.Also includes some source material including: notes from Pownall (3); typed transcripts of telegrams between WSC and General Sir Claude Auchinleck (dating to 1942 when Auchinleck was Commander in Chief of the forces in the Middle East); a supplement to the London Gazette (printed in January 1948) containing a despatch from Auchinleck on operations in the Middle East between November 1941 and August 1942.Most of the material in the file dates to 1949-1950.
