Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 22 entitled "An African Pause. Defence of Tobruk" (provisionally entitled either "A Costly Interlude" or "An African Interlude"). Annotated with notes and suggestions by various people including: WSC, Denis Kelly, William Deakin, Charles Wood, CSC, [George] Gordon Allen, Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall, ?1st Lord Alanbrooke [earlier Field Marshal Alan Brooke], [1st Lord] Ismay and Sir Edward Marsh.Also includes sections of Chapter 23 "My Meeting with Roosevelt" and correspondence from Allen (2) and Pownall.
