Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 5 entitled "Conquest of the Italian Empire" (provisionally entitled "Our Desert Flank - Abyssinia" [later Ethiopia]), annotated with notes and comments by various individuals including: WSC, Denis Kelly, Charles Wood, Sir Edward Marsh, William Deakin, Jay Gold, CSC, Sir Norman Brook [later 1st Lord Normanbrook, Secretary to the Cabinet] and Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall.Also includes: galley proofs from Chapter 1 "The Desert and the Balkans".The file also includes some source material, including: notes by George [Gordon] Allen on naval operations in the East African campaign; map showing the East African campaign, 1941; copy of a telegram from General Archibald Wavell, Commander-in-Chief, Middle East, on his future course of action in French Somaliland [later Djibouti] (March 1941).The majority of material in the file dates to 1948 - 1950.
