Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 4 entitled "The Mediterranean War" (provisionally entitled "Malta, the Navy and the Air" and "The Eden - Dill Mission" [Anthony Eden, later 1st Lord Avon, Foreign Secretary, and Field Marshal Sir John Dill, Chief of Imperial General Staff]), annotated with notes and comments from various individuals including: WSC, Denis Kelly, Charles Wood, William Deakin, Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall, Jay Gold, CSC, George [Gordon] Allen and Sir Edward Marsh.Also includes notes and correspondence from individuals including: George [Gordon] Allen on attacks on enemy shipping off Libya, and the bombardment of Genoa [Italy] (2); Lieutenant- General Sir Henry Pownall; Lieutenant-General Sir Balfour Hutchison [former Deputy Quartermaster General, Middle East] on why Benghazi was not opened up as a port in early 1941.Also includes some source material including: a copy of a telegram from General Archibald Wavell [Commander-in-Chief, Middle East] to WSC on assistance to be given to Turkey and Greece (February 1941).Most of the material in the file dates to 1948 - 1949.
