Includes typescript and galley proofs of Chapter 24 entitled "Dakar" [Senegal], annotated with suggested amendments and corrections by various individuals including: WSC, William Deakin, Denis Kelly, [?] Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Pownall, George [Gordon] Allen, Sir Edward Marsh, CSC and Elizabeth Gilliatt, WSC's secretary.Some source material is also present in the file including: copy of minute by General Sir John Dill, Vice-Chief of Imperial General Staff, on the French landing at Dakar, with orders for Vice-Admiral John Cunningham and Major-General Noel Irwin (1940).Also includes: typescript and galley proofs of Appendix D "Correspondence Relating to Dakar Between Mr Churchill and Mr Menzies" [Robert Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia], provisionally intended to feature in Chapter 24; note on the accession of Cameroon to the Allies; notes by Sir Martin Gilbert [1960's].The majority of items in the file date to 1946 - 1948.
