File includes correspondence with: Cyril Clemens, (34) 1940-56, with article "Winston Churchill and Mark Twain", and pamphlets, "Mark Twain and Harry S Truman" and "Mark Twain and Franklin D Roosevelt", with note stating that the International Mark Twain Society was a "figment of the imagination of Cyril Clemens, who was probably the only active member, letters from Andrew Stark Foreign Office, (3) stating that the United States State Department had warned Clemens against further fraudulent use of WSC's name, note by John Colville on Clemens publication of an entirely false foreword by WSC to a pamphlet published by the Society on "Mark Twain and President Eisenhower, 1953; Thomas Chamberlain, Trustee of Mark Twain's estate, on legal action against Clemens, Philip Guedalla, (2) on presentation of medal of the International Mark Twain Society, 1943, describing it as a "somewhat dubious trinket".
