Scope and Contents
Correspondents on WSC's visit include: Hans Bauer-Andersen, President of Europa-Union, New Commonwealth Society, inviting WSC to the Congress of European Nations; Edward Danson-Moray, Secretary to the British Legation, Berne; Marc Pofilet, French Consul, Lausanne. Also includes notes and copies of correspondence by CSC and Lettice Marston [later Lettice Shillingford], Elizabeth Gilliatt and M Staite, WSC's secretaries. A large proportion of the papers in this file are in French or German.Other subjects include: gifts and invitations for WSC; requests for WSC's autograph; letters of tribute to WSC; aid for prisoners of war; Palestine; requests for visas.Also includes: print from the Swiss Tattler on dictatorship and German colonization (1938); prints of songs; a Swiss driving license for WSC; tourist guides; programme for the Congress of European Nations; copy of testimonial by 1st Lord Curzon of Kedleston, Foreign Secretary, to the commander in charge of Allied prisoners of war, 1917-1918; pamphlet on a cycle race; photograph of an artist's work; press cutting on the atomic bomb test on Bikini atoll, and issue of Neue Zurcher Zeitung on the test.
