Scope and Contents
Correspondents on WSC's visit include: Sir Frederick Godber, Chairman, Executive Committee, Help Holland Council; Merrick Denton-Thompson, British Consul- General, Amsterdam (2); Walter Fletcher on paint suppliers in the Netherlands; Sir Nevile Bland, British Ambassador to the Netherlands; G van Heuven Goedhart, former Minister of Justice for the Netherlands, on his wartime escape to Britain. Also includes notes and copies of correspondence by CSC and Mary Churchill [later Mary Soames], and Elizabeth Gilliatt, Lettice Marston [later Lettice Shillingford] and "N S" [Jo Sturdee, later Lady Onslow], WSC's secretaries.Other subjects include: invitations, gifts, interview requests and tributes to WSC; requests for travel permits; an appeal on behalf of Dutch collaborators.Also includes: photographs of WSC in the Netherlands; notes on the Help Holland Council; copy of a book on WSC by M van Poll; issue of the magazine de Vrouw En Haar Huis; issue of the newspaper Met Volle Zeilen, with an article on the President of the Netherlands, W Schemerhorn; embroideries and ribbons; visiting cards; set of engravings of subjects including WSC and war damage by Cor de Wolff.
