Scope and Contents

Correspondence between WSC and Haseltine on Haseltine's gifts to WSC of his bronzes of horses and of WSC's poodle Rufus, exhibitions of his work, and research for his statue of George Washington.Other correspondents include: "Bert" [10th Duke of Marlborough, earlier Lord Blandford] on research for the George Washington statue; Madeleine Haseltine, on Haseltine's death. Also includes notes and copies of correspondence by Anthony Montague Browne, WSC's Private Secretary and Jo Sturdee [later Lady Onslow], Elizabeth Gilliatt and Chips Gemmell, WSC's secretaries.Also includes: photographs of Haseltine's bronzes of the thoroughbred horse, Queen Elizabeth II's horse Aureole, and WSC's poodle Rufus; text of WSC's introduction to Haseltine's exhibition catalogue; memorandum by Haseltine on the making of the George Washington statue.
