Correspondents on WSC's race horses and racing activities include: Kathleen Taylor, Private Secretary to Christopher Soames (3); Christopher Soames (13) on subjects including the finances of the stud, names for foals, the gift of a pony to Emma [Soames, later Emma MacManus], family news and naval estimates; Vera Pullinger of the Chartwell Estate Office (3); and Walter Nightingall [WSC's trainer].Also includes copies of correspondence and notes from Anthony Montague Browne [Private Secretary to WSC], Gillian Maturin [Secretary to WSC], Doreen Pugh [Secretary to WSC], Grace Hamblin [Secretary to WSC], Elizabeth Gilliatt [Secretary to WSC] and Catherine Snelling [Secretary to WSC]; photographs of WSC's horses including 'Non Stop', 'Release' and 'Seraph' and of WSC with [Bernard, 16th] Duke of Norfolk [earlier Lord Arundel] at Ascot [Berkshire] races; letters from jockeys to WSC; and an extract from a speech by WSC about Palestine (dated 1947).Other subjects covered by the file include: applications for tickets to various races.
