Also includes notes and copies of correspondence from: secretaries Grace Hamblin, Jo Sturdee ("N S") [later Lady Onslow], Jane Portal [later Lady Williams of Elvel], Elizabeth Gilliatt, Kathleen Hill, Chips Gemmell, and Lettice Marston [later Lettice Shillingford]; Christopher Soames and CSC.Subjects include: matters concerning the Chartwell farms, including the purchase of Chartwell Farm and other farm land, its management, finances, job applications, the purchase of farm equipment, matters concerning farm cottages, wages, details of the herds of jersey and shorthorn cattle, milk yield, pigs, and crops; coal, electrical, water, and telephone supplies; gardening matters.Also includes: various Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries forms; valuation of cattle; receipts and accounts; cropping schedules; maps of the farms; photographs of Chartwell Farm.
