Typescript memorandum by WSC, marked 'secret' on the abdication crisis on subjects including: the attachment between Edward VIII [earlier Prince of Wales, later Duke of Windsor] and Wallis Simpson; Edward VIII's sense of duty; WSC's advice that Wallis Simpson should not go to Balmoral; meetings with Walter Monckton [former Attorney-General to the Prince of Wales] and with Edward VIII at Fort Belvedere [Berkshire]; and the text of a letter from WSC to the Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin urging that the King should be allowed time to make a decision.
