Letter from WSC (Blenheim Palace [Oxfordshire]) to [John S Churchill] in which he says that he has been thinking about [the possibility of his regiment being sent to the Somme] and advises him to "confine yrself strictly to your duties"; comments on the "marvellous devotion and heroism of the troops"; says that he hopes to earn 10-12,000 pounds in the next 6 months and that his salary "beats all records in journalism"; expresses frustration at not being given a position and not being able to fight against the Germans; discusses the efforts of [David Lloyd George] on his behalf and the delay in publishing the Dardanelles papers; and comments on the progress made by Peregrine [Churchill] and Randolph [Churchill].
