Letter from WSC to "Jack" [John S Churchill] with an account of his exeat including: his arrival at home; a visit to [Frances, Duchess of Marlborough]; a visit to the naval exhibition with [James] Milbanke; a detailed illustrated account of a visit to Crystal Place [London] with Count [Charles] Kinsky including a display of wild beasts, a fire brigade drill, a "tolerable" dinner with champagne, a row between Count Kinsky and a "blackguard" described as "Row with Kaffir", fireworks, and his impressions of the Emperor of Germany; and meetings with "Touty" [Baron de Forest / Count de Bendern] and "Kim" [Lord Kimbolton, later 9th Duke of Manchester]. Signed manuscript illustrated with pen and ink drawings. Typed transcripts at CHAR 28/152A/9-18.
