Letter from "Goonie" [Lady Gwendeline Churchill, formerly Lady Gwendeline Bertie] (Alderley Park, Chelford, Cheshire) to "B M" [Lady Randolph Churchill] enclosing a letter [not present] from "Jacko" [John S Churchill], says that she intends to be "brave and dignified" [during his absence in France], reports that she has been enjoying the company of Venetia [Stanley, later Venetia Montagu] and that the children [John G Churchill and Peregrine Churchill] are well, and expresses relief about "Clemmie" [CSC, a reference to the birth of Sarah Churchill, later Sarah Oliver, Sarah Beauchamp and Sarah, Lady Audley]. Signed manuscript.
