Letter from "Jack" [John S Churchill] (ANZAC Headquarters [Cairo, Egypt]) to "Mama" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he discusses his hopes to be appointed to the Australian forces under [General Sir William] Birdwood; comments on confusion about the authority of commanders, [Lieutenant Colonel Sir John] Murray and [Colonel Sir John] Maxwell; discusses the behaviour of women in Cairo who "spend their time hindering hospitals and running about with everybody but their husbands"; reports that he has been awarded the Legion d'Honneur; asks for news of WSC and says that he hopes that he is safe in France; and discusses his financial worries. Envelope present.
