Scope and Contents
Recollections of Alice, Lady Salisbury, formerly Lady Alice Gore concerning the impact of the resignation of Lord Randolph Churchill on [Robert, 3rd] Lord Salisbury which was brought to his attention during a ball attended by [Frances] Duchess of Marlborough . She recalls that Lord Salisbury suggested to his wife, Lady Salisbury, that she should not wish the Duchess of Marlborough goodbye on the following day as Lord Randolph's letter of resignation had appeared in the Times.
