Scope and Contents
Copy of a letter from Frederick Montague [later 1st Lord Amwell](Ministry of Transport, Metropole Buildings, Nothumberland Avenue [London]) to WSC enclosing a letter from Lord Randolph Churchill. Includes a transcript of a letter from Lord Randolph Churchill (Blenheim Palace) to an unidentified correspondent in which he declines an invitation to speak at the New Southgate Conservative Association and advocates the use of the term "Tory" as it emphasises the differences between the Conservative Party and "the cosmopolitan caucus-driven subversive sect which assumes to itself the somewhat ridiculous style and title of 'The Radical Party'".
