Letter from WSC (Board of Trade, Whitehall Gardens) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] including: praise for the money she has made by furnishing and selling a house; his success in negotiations over the Coal Strike; the christening of [Diana Churchill, later Diana Bailey and Diana Sandys]; support throughout the country for the  Budget and his opinion that the [House of] Lords will not throw the Budget out; comments on the behaviour of the Peers "threatening to cut down charities and pensions, sack old labourers and retainers, and howling and whining because they are asked to pay their share"; his opinion about affairs in Spain over which the King [Alfonso XIII] "is playing the fool" and his intention to visit German manoeuvres with CSC. Envelope present.
