Letter from WSC (Hotel Touraine, Boston [United States]) to [Lady Randolph Churchill] about his lecture tour including: difficulties posed by lack of interest and pro-Boer feeling; details of his financial gain from each lecture; the success of the New York meeting which was presided over by Mark Twain; the hospitality of [William] Bourke Cockran; a meeting with the President [William McKinley]; his ill-health at the Washington meeting; his dislike of the "vulgar and offensive" advertisements for the tour; and comments on the "black and unsettled" political situation in South Africa. Typescript with manuscript corrections. Last page of letter on the notepaper of 105 Mount Street in manuscript.
