Letter from WSC (Camp before Colenso, Natal [South Africa]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] informing her that Sir Redvers Buller has given him a position as Lieutenant in the South African Light Horse and allowed him to retain his position as Press Correspondent and that he has obtained a position for "Jack" [John S Churchill] as Lieutenant. He expresses approval for her work on the [hospital ship] Maine, for the reviews of his book ["The River War"] and for the second number of ["The Anglo-Saxon Review"] and says that he is thinking about Pamela [Plowden, later Lady Lytton].
